Proud to Bleed Green: Julie

Last Modified: 1/30/2023

For more than 30 years, Julie Gillespie, RN, Parkview Whitley Hospital, has brought her vast knowledge and dedication to every aspect of her job.

As an operating room nurse, Julie plays a critical role in the surgical process. She works in tandem with the surgeon and care teams while ensuring surgical rooms are equipped for all upcoming procedures. Beyond that, Julie spends most of her shifts taking care of patients before, during and after surgery.

Although she enjoys many aspects of her role, Julie gets the most fulfillment from the one-on-one contact she has with her patients, building a relationship and helping them through the stressful or scary moments of their health journey. “I love connecting with my patients and being their voice and advocate while under anesthesia,” Julie said.

When asked what it means to “bleed green,” Julie said, “I bleed green knowing I have compassion and am dedicated to my patients, their families, my co-workers, the community and Parkview.” She encourages others to join the team for career advancement opportunities and the life-long relationships you make along the way. “Parkview provides opportunities for growth and advancement,” she said. “But it’s also a place where your co-workers become your family.”
